UNC Wilmington Dining: All of Your Questions Answered

Knowing where to grab your next meal isn’t a usual concern for most incoming college students, but it quickly becomes one while adjusting to life at college.

While most first or second-year students opt for an on-campus meal plan to help with the transition to college, even some third and fourth-year students find that meal plans are a convenient, cost-effective way to plan meals while avoiding the hassle and expense of grocery shopping and cooking.

To help students know what to expect from the meal plan offerings at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about dining options at UNC Wilmington.

What are the meal plan options at UNC Wilmington?

Meal plans at the University of North Carolina Wilmington offer a mix of options to pay for meals at the dining hall-style buffets and the on-campus restaurants.

The most common plans include unlimited meals per week in the dining halls and meal and cash allowances that can be used for food purchases at other retailers.

The mix of offerings can get confusing, especially for new students, so here’s an overview of what a regular meal plan offers at UNC Wilmington:

  • All-Access
    • Unlimited swipes in the dining hall locations on campus
    • Expires at the end of the semester
  • Teal Meals
    • For use at select food retailers on campus
    • All-Access plans have a weekly allotment of Teal Meals that expire at the end of the week
    • Teal Meals are reset every Sunday morning for the weekly allotment
  • Food Dollars
    • Function like a debit account and are billed to a student account
    • Available for use at any food retailer or dining hall on campus

Students living in one of the on-campus residence halls at UNC Wilmington must have an All-Access (Hawk) meal plan but can choose among the available options.

Students living in one of the apartment-style residence halls on campus or in an off-campus community are not required to have a meal plan but can choose any of the plans available if opting to take their meals on campus.

UNCW Campus Dining offers a variety of meal plans tailored to fit students’ busy schedules.
